Some people will probably wear doc martens, though I wouldn't necessarily recommend it if you want them to last. Trainers, converse and vans are some of my immediate grabs, though your feet will sweat. I wouldn't really recommend lower cut things for indoor venues, but if you did, you'd probably be fine. Jeans are usually a go-to, but if its an outdoor venue, you may want to get a little more dressed up in dresses, skirts, shorts etc.

For most gigs, I've been in long sleeves and been fine, and usually that's what I see people in, but you should be fine in short sleeves or tank tops depending on the venue. You're probably gonna be in the pit, so go in with the expectation of getting sweaty. That might just be me though, but generally shirts are all good.

My usual rule is if you're going to see a band, wear another bands shirt. If you’re seating just enjoy the show ! Either way you’re going to have a good time ! If you don’t want to get involved you can stay on the outside of the ring ( you might still get a bit of shoving about) or very far to the sides and back. They might look intimidating and violent but they’re extremely fun and it’s a community, if you fall you get picked up, if you see someone fell- pick them up. YouTube circle pits, walls of death that sort of stuff. There’s no expectation to wear band merch and you’ll be surprised how many ‘normal’ people will be there and people you wouldn’t expect ( when I was a kid I expected a sea of emo kids at gigs which was the case but there was a lot of adults, ‘chavs’ and people from all walks of life.Īdvice if you are pitting - they usually start dead centre a few rows from the railings. They tend to have a very active pit at their gigs and they get warm and sweaty ( also lots of spilled drinks thrown on the air is standard at a lot of gigs, don’t ask me why). If you’re getting involved in the pits or generally just standing don’t wear expensive clothes- cheap and comfortable and lose fitting.

Do you intend to have seating or get involved in the pits ? Either way flat shoes and not something overly warm is the best. It’s up to you but wear something comfortable and not mega expensive.
